FOCUS ON MY NEEDS: WORKING TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN IN CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS

Period: January 2020 – March 2022
Client/Partner: Terre des hommes Europe

The objective of the EU funded project FOCUS was to promote the importance and the obligation to conduct a robust, multidisciplinary needs assessment for children who enter in contact with the law, as victims and as accused or suspects, by building the capacities of professionals who work with children involved in criminal proceedings and piloting individual assessment standards and procedures.

As Terre des hommes in-house consultant, I supported the FOCUS core team of experts to provide technical guidance and quality assurance for the research and capacity building activities.

In particular, I was strongly involved in the drafting of the methodology, the European review, the training handbook and training materials, and the e-learning modules, as well as a few other resources now available on a dedicated webpage.

The project was led by Terre des hommes Regional Office in Hungary and co-funded by the European Union. Other partners: Child Circle; Child Rights Centre (CRC) in Serbia; Defence for Children The Netherlands; Institute of Social Activities and Practices (SAPI) in Bulgaria; Terre des hommes Romania; Terre des hommes Hellas.
