FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION/CUTTING IN SAMBURU COUNTY AND FOSTER CARE FOR CHILDREN IN NEED OF PROTECTION IN KENYA: FEASIBILITY STUDIES

Period: October 2016 – February 2017
Client/Partner: L’Alberto della Vita

As an independent research consultant of the Italian NGO “Albero della Vita”, operating in KenyaI conducted the research on the field and drafted the two feasibility studies, one on female genital mutilation (FGM) in Samburu County (Northern Kenya) and one on alternative care solutions for children in need of protection in Kenya, with a focus on foster care.

I worked on the data collection, processing and report drafting – through desk research, interviews to key stakeholders and interviews to children in the care protection system and to young women who experienced FGM in Kenya.
